More than ever, we need to practice self-care

Yoga is a lifestyle, a way of living. Extend your Yoga practice into your life by incorporating breathing techniques into your day. Deep belly breathing assists in calming and stabilising the mind. Try to allow your exhal

es to be longer than your inhales. In times of uncertainty there is so much we cannot control, however the good news is that we can take control over our breathing and that has power to influence our minds (and consequently our overall well-being).

Breathing Techniques:

Your breathing should be comfortable and not strained. I invite you to sit in a comfortable position. Let's try to fill up the full capacity of the lungs with our breath. Take a deep loving breath into your belly to the count of 4, then exhale for the count of 4. (Repeat 3 times).

Now breathe into the belly for 4 counts, exhale for 6 counts. (Repeat 3 times).

Breathe in for the count of 4, exhale for 7 counts. (Repeat 3 times).

If you would like to extend the breath even longer, inhale for the count of 4, then exhale for the count of 8. (Repeat 3 times).

Another variation is to retain the breath for a few seconds before exhaling. Likewise, you may choose to expel the breath and hold it out for a few seconds before your next inhale.

I encourage you to have a play around with your breath. You might discover how still your mind becomes when your focus is just on your breath. Mindfulness doesn't have to be difficult.

You may modify this technique as you wish. Even if you just regulate your breath by breathing in deeply for the count of 4, then exhaling fully for the count of 4, I am sure you may experience peace.

**** A special event has be planned for the opening of the NEW "Embrace Yoga" Studio. Due to the current global situation, I am postponing the celebration. Nevertheless, I am so excited to eventually share energy with you in the bright open space, where we will connect with the elements of Mother Nature.

Allow yogic wisdom to remind you that "this too shall pass". Focus on love, compassion, loving-kindness, joy, equanimity and peace. We are all intricately connected in this delicate Web of Life, look out for one another, we are all in this together. Unite with love.

Stay safe, be well.

In loving awareness,

Lauren
